Battery Info
On this page you will find general info about cordless tool batteries and the industrial cells known as Sub C cells that are use in them.
Please note that ALL PORTER CABLE rebuilds will be completed with GoldPeak 2000mah cells. Some of the Porter Cable chargers can not charge our 2200mah cells properly.
Some Hilti Brand batteries use a Full size industrial C size cell. There will be an up-charge for this type of rebuild. Dont worry, most batteries do not use Full C cells. If your batteries use full C you will be notified before any work is done.
Things you should know before you place an order:
-
Is your Battery factory sealed or the old inline stick type ? If your battery does not have screws holding it together it is probably a factory sealed battery. Unfortunately, we do not rebuild the old inline stick type. If your battery is Factory Sealed contact us via email at info@hartsbatteries.com or call 317-269-7298 before you make your purchase. In some cases we can rebuild sealed batteries but at a risk of damage to the battery case while getting it open. Please contact us first if you have a sealed battery.
-
Currently we do not rebuild lithium Ion Batteries.

Does your battery use 4/5 sub C cells (shorter) or regular sub C cells? Below you will find a detailed description of the differences between 4/5 and regular sub C cells.
Some older cordless tool batteries use a smaller cell called a 4/5 sub C cell. 4/5 cells are a little shorter and have less capacity than regular sub C cells. We use 1300 mah Cells For the shorter/ older 4/5 sub c packs.
You can tell if your battery uses 4/5 cells by measuring the base of the pack. The base of 4/5 packs are usually 1.75" high or smaller. The base of regular packs are about 2.25" high or more. Below are examples of the difference in height between a pack that uses 4/5 sub C cells and regular sub C cells:
